About me

I am an Argentinean Biological Anthropologist and Doctor in Natural Sciences. I was born and raised in the city of La Plata, which is located in the central east of Argentina. From kindergarten to PhD, I conducted all my studies at public institutions belonging to the National University of La Plata, Argentina (UNLP: Universidad Nacional de La Plata). I graduated with a Bachelor's in Anthropology from the Naturals Science Faculty (UNLP), where I conducted a student project aiming at studying changes in dental oral traits as a response to changes in diet in a diachronic sample from Northeast Patagonia. Later on, I obtained my degree as a Doctor in Natural Sciences (UNLP). I focused my doctoral thesis on the impact of environmental factors in shaping the craniometric variation of human populations in South America. While studying the biological variation of South American populations, I was fascinated by the complex bicultural history of human populations in the Americas. Studying the origin and diversification of human populations in the Americas in the context of human evolution became my next goal. I deepened that project while working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research (Austria).

I am currently based in Europe, conducting my research at the University of Bonn and the University of Vienna. In, Bonn I am part of the Department of Anthropology of the Americas, working in collaboration with archaeologists and anthropologists such as Carla Jaimes Betancourt, Karoline Noack, and Nikolai Grube. Complementarily, I am an associated researcher at the University of Vienna, where I am collaborating with Philipp Mitteröecker, Anne Le Maitre, and Nicole Grunstra on a project that is focused on the evolution of the mammalian ear. Additionally, as a member of HEAS, a research network based in Vienna, I participate in events and projects with a strong interdisciplinary focus integrating natural scientific methods and the archaeological sciences.
